  1. How do you remove the fuel rail? I've undone the three bolts I can see attaching the fuel rail to the inlet manifold and the rail feels like it should be free but the injectors are not pulling free from the engine. It's there a trick to getting the fuel rail and injectors removed together? Or did I miss something along the way?
  2. My car failed its MOT today and one of the things was corrosion around the rear right jacking point. After a bit of poking and a quick go with the wire wheel on the grinder it turns out the rear few inches of the sill was complete rust. I've cut out the offending rusted part, which is a good 15cm of the sill from the back, and some of the structure behind it including the thicker bit for the jacking point. I've now got to decide what to do next. Could I fabricate some metal to replace the parts I've cut out, or do I replace the whole sill? While I have got a welder, I'm very out of practice and don't want to do more than necessary. How easy is it to remove the whole sill cleanly so a new one can be refitted? Do mobile bodywork welders exist, who can come out and do such jobs?
  3. Starter motor is gubbed and I need to replace it for another unit. Looking at the Haynes manual it appears that this is the procedure for replacing a starter motor. 1. Disconnect battery 2. Remove air box 3. Drain cooling system 4. Disconnect coolant hoses from the manifold 5. Unbolt the manifold from the cylinder head 6. Disconnect the wiring from the solenoid 7. Unscrew the bolts securing the brush end bracket to the engine 8. Unscrew the mounting bolts at the flywheel end 9. Withdraw starter from the engine Just wondering if there is anything else I need to know before I start as I've never done this before? Also do the coolant hoses definitely have to be removed from the manifold and the system drained or can it be moved to one side to make room? Cheers, Gav
