Good afternoon all.
After a little more advice please.
I recently got a new Baker bm (fast road) gear box mount fitted to my 89 1.6gti . Be1 gearbox. Was told it was necessary.
Since it's been replaced there is a very noticeable vibration in gear stick in mainly 4th and 5th gear when cruising at approx 45-55 mph. Approx 3000rpm.
This was not there before the new mount.
Also there is a very noticeable vibration sensation in car and through steering wheel when decelerating, especially when engine not fully up to temperature. This seems to be coming from off-side drive train area.
Garage have said all components in this area are tight.
It is definitely noticeable when say going downhill and car holding itself in 2nd / 3rd gear. When clutch is engaged (pushed in) the vibrating noise and sensation disappears.
This is way more pronounced when not up to temperature.
Has anybody got an idea what's the likely cause?
Other 2 engine mounts (bottom and top) were supposedly changed before I purchased car 3 years ago but do not have any definite proof of this. Or do not know which brand was/wasn't used. They do look fairly decent condition. I have done over 14, 000 miles since purchase.
Are the 2 issues related or am I likely looking at 2 different problems?
Thanks for reading.
