Hello there.
Me and a buddy started fiddling with a 205Gti that's been standing in his garage for a while.
It has a 2.0 MI16 engine in it (110kw version).
It is also partially connected. Much of the original instrumentation is connected directly to the engine.
We're using the Motronic box (ends on 161 so it has both Lambda and knock sensor) from the 405 together with the 405 loom for engine control.
(The engine is running smoothly at this point)
I have a few questions to help us on our way.
1 The knock sensor, does it need to be a of a specific brand. Easiest place to find a compatible one?
2 Lamba sensor is not connected yet. I am unsure of what cables to attach it to on the 405 loom. The wiring diagrams I found in the haynes manual just gave me a head ache.
Any clues?
3 Does the lambda sensor have to be of a particular brand/make/model?
4: Can we tell if the engine is in limp home mode easily?
5 The Data port, does this use standard OBD protocol?
5a any suggested method of communicating with the motronic box?
Right now I have no interesting images of the car. I'll see about those once we can take it out of the garage.
Thanks in advance!
(Is this the right sub-forum for this type of car?)
