  1. This is simple and easy modification to make your OE tachometer to work with signal from ecu tacho output. Idea is to remove the signal conditioning and voltage suppressing components (capasitor and 1k resistor). And replace the signal suppressing 15k resistor with smaller one. You want to leave the second capasitor (not marked in the picture) in the signal line because it protects the IC from DC currents. Disclaimer: I'm not a electronic guru so don't mind my possibly incorrect terms. After this mod my revcounter worked beautifully with the DTA ecu. Except the reading was way out. I fixed the reading by adjusting the brass weight screws behind the meter. Now it reads very close (+/- 50 rpm) to true value. There is a bigger error roughly 150 rpm at 3200 rpm, but it is close enough for me.
  2. Hi all, I'm planning to replace my corroded fuel lines at the weekend and after having a quick look tonight I have a couple of questions. Would I be best to go at the joints at the front of the car from underneath or via the engine bay? I can see them well enough with the bonnet up but access looks a bit awkward as they're under the brake servo near the firewall. Also, the two joints toward the back of the car are secured with small hose clips and so is the return in the engine bay but the feed in has a union joint - can I re-use this hardware or do I have to get a new set of hardware once I've removed the old? Any advice and general pointers would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ian.
  3. Hi all, As I've been reading it's become apparerent that although I've stripped and cleaned various bits like the throttle body, breathers and AFM independentley it might be wise to give my 205 a good blast of carb' cleaner to give it a good clean through to finish the job. The question is (please don't laugh) - how do I do this? Do I administer the carb' cleaner whilst the engine is running and if so, where do I spray it into the engine? My common sense is telling me not to spray it into the air intake as it will go through the AFM and air filter - should I perhaps disconnect the SAD pipe and spray it in there so it goes more or less straight into the inlet manifold? I seem to remember a mate of mine spraying carb' cleaner through my first car (16 Ford Escort Ghia) about 17 years ago with it running but it was a long time ago. IIRC he just took the top off the airbox and sprayed it straight in but I'm not sure about my 205 as it is running the standard injection system and I don't want to break anything! :-) Any advice would be appreciated.
