Hi all. I was recently hit with some massively bad news. Earlier in the year I passed on my beloved 205 GR to my brother-in-law. He was after a small cheap runaround and seeing as I had bought myself a diesel for commuting I decided to give him the pug. Info: 205 GR 5 door 1.4ltr 197+k miles!!! Nicknamed "Leroy" (for no real reason) my wife and I have had some great times and trips with him over the years so I was devastated to hear that while my bro-in-law and his family were at church on sunday, some kids (literally not even teenagers) decided to throw a lit newspaper under the fuel tank. Pictures speak for themselves really but I think I can save him. I've managed to get him home on a trailer and I'm going to strip the back end down and clean him up to see what the damage really is. I think we were lucky that the fire service got there so quickly. So basically this is an appeal for bits and bobs to sort him out (on a very tight budget). I've managed to source: Boot lid rear seat drivers door rear valance I still require: Fuel tank (non injection) fuel filler neck Rear drivers side door head lining (non sunroof) I'm trying to do the bare minimum to make him roadworthy again as I can't let him go to the scrappy. He'll drive through forests, fields, snow, sand, just NOT fire apparently. Been one of the best cars I've ever owned and I can't see him die so close to reaching the moon! Cheers guys.

I wasn't going to post this but I thought it was worth letting you know of a possible problem. Whilst driving home yesterday I had a continues amount of white smoke appear behind me, so I pulled off the A19 into a near and very convenient layby, stopped the car and popped the bonnet to be greeted by a small fire on the exhaust manifold. Now my car hasn't got the original air filter system and therefore there was nothing really there to burn or melt, so no damage caused (managed to put the fire out with an old seat cover I had laid about in the boot). "How was it caused?" I hear you ask. Well the middle bolt on the cam cover was noticed to be too big ( I reckon that's because it's not holding the air filter box any more) and spitting oil out when any revs were applied so it was swapped for a bolt with a better fit. However after +2 weeks the bolt has unwound itself, and with help from the canter of the engine, oil dripped and sprayed onto the exhaust manifold and kindly set alight. Any thoughts? I don't know what I want here, just though it needs to be said. Oh it currently has a rubber washer, so I intend to add a shake proof washer and maybe a little loctite to the washers & bolt to hold them together. P.S. after posting my fire experience on Twitter, the first response was: "Why didn't you take a photo of the fire?" to which my reply was "Because I was too busy putting it out, you f**king moron!". Seriously people are 'mad stupid' these days. (Felt the need for a little Ghetto lingo in there). Geoff

Gutted. Just got the 205 back on the road and i went out to it this morning to find it full of smoke and the interior still smoldering! The sunroof vacum handle and interior light fitting is burnt out The front seats are burned and have melted pastic on them. The handblake surronund is melted away The carpet is burned Roof lining and sunroof cover is burned. Both sunvisors are melted I have no idea how its happened? Can anyone offer any ideas? Anyone have any of these parts? Thanks John
