Just to document the work my car has had done in the last year or so. Last year saw the major rusty bits tackled (sill and nsf inner wing) and a leather interior fitted along with a good clean of the carpet. This year I had a GTI6 engine fitted by Dan Taylor, who did an absolutely fantastic job. This also included 309 bottom arms, new disks, pads, fluid and brake lines all round. He also fitted a 16 row oil cooler, neatly in the radiator cowling The whole GTI6 engine thing came about because he had a maniflow/magnex exhaust system that I joked I'd buy if he could stick a 6 engine on the end... And I have just capped it all off with a full refurb of my Speedline alloys shod with Michelin PE2s. All done for now. Next years plans include a suspension upgrade (24mm rear ARB, Stiffer front springs and better shock) and a Xsara VTS 'box with Quaife diff. I am just enjoying a reliable, strong and shiny gti now.
