Hi can anyone help me please?
I am rebuilding my DFZ engine and I notice that, from new, two of the con rods have been fitted to the pistons the other way round. By this I mean that the pistons are in the right position (DIST to timing belt side) but the bearing caps although fitted correctly one to another have the tags in the bearing shells away from the exhaust side.
The engine has always run very smoothly in the past. My qustion is: Should I turn the "offending" pistons round on the rods so that all the tags are on the exhaust side, or should I leave well alone?
I should add that I do have a jig and a mandrel which I made for fitting pistons but I don't like to press out the gudgeon pins too often, for obvious reasons.
In short - can con rods go either way round? All help gratefully appreciated!
