After suffering bad fuel starvation at the track last week, I need a solution.
After lots of searching, these are the options. I'm on a seriously tight budget at the minute.
Car is an 87 phase 1. Has a xu10j4r with a few mods.
Apparently the later type fuel tanks of a phase 2 have more or better designed baffles. Yet to be confirmed, not a straight answer as yet. I have one of these if they are a better design. A mate on the same track running same times had no surge problems in a phase 2.
Or the later type fuel pump has a different/more efficient design? As to where it sits down in the tank?
Otherwise it's a swirl pot. I don't want to cut the tank up as I drive the car daily and to events.
What about a mk2 golf gti swirl pot assembly. As far as I know they are about 500ml capacity and have the pump and filter attached to them. I could mount it away under the boot floor.
I'm hoping the later tanks can sort my problem for now. Otherwise it's the swirl pot. We had no mk2 golf Gtis in Australia so I would need to source one and have it sent over.
