205 Xr Suspension

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps I got a 205 xr which I need to sort its suspension out.

So far I have a set of used koni dampers and 60mm springs off a 306 to fit the front. What type of drop would this give on the front?

I now need to sort the rear out. The rear is a baseline beam (I think) with drums. Im not sure which arb and TB is has. I can drop this beam to match as its pretty solid, or I can get a beam off a newer model. I would like to keep the drums on it as I cba converting to discs. Will there be much of a difference between this beam and a 1.6gti or 1.9gti beam.??

What could I take off a 1.6 or 1.9 gti rear beam to improve my current setup??

Regards

If the beams good then keep it, just switch the torsion bars and ARB for GTi items to bring it upto GTi spec minus the discs.

Not sure what the drop on the front would be. Never messed with 306 bits for suspension myself.

Beam wise, as said, Gti has thicker torsion bar and roll bar. If you want to keep drums, would probably be easier to swap to a 1.6 Gti beam. Rather than strip 2 beams down ?
