Recommended Posts

Not sure what it is really,

Do I need it? Possibly it's a regulator, but there's one on the tail end of the fuel rail? If I do, where should it be fitted? It's on the line in from the filter at the mo,

Ta,

BX 16Vs didn't have them so I have never fitted one.

Never bothered with it either - the way I look at it is that it's clearly not needed (given that BX 16v's didn't have them) and not having it means two less places for a potential fuel leak.

Does that mean you can junk the standard fuel pressure regulator on the Mi16? Not necessary?

no definately not! The pressure regulator basically creates a restriction and allows the pressure to build up. Bit like having a hose pipe with the tap turned fully on at the wall but using the end bit to allow only a trickle, therefor the pressure is built up in the hose. The injectors need this pressure. Thats why the regulator is after the injectors in the flow sequence, and not before like with a carb setup. With carbs you don't want too much pressure as it floods the carbs

all my Mi16 engines (all are Z/DFW though) have this and i've always wondered what is it for.

might want to bin it for other reasons - i've once accidentally noticed it was leaking fuel from

the rubber hose connection and onto the alternator!:blush:
