Wide Body Kit, "grand Style"?

Recommended Posts

Guest freda155

Recently got a '86 1,6 GTI. I already had one project, but i just couldn't resist this one (check link at bottom)

The kit is made out of fibre glass and the job looks good and as old as the car. Does anyone know what it is? It lacks the GTI-plastic, but it is a GTI.

The big text on the doors says "Grand Style" and smaller stickers on the rear quarter panels says "Trim-Line". A Peugeot original item?

Looks like one of the Gutmann kits, I dont know which one! Standard front and Rear bumpers though

I agree, it looks like a Gutmann; some of these were done from new iirc. Would look a whole lot better with black bumpers though imo

Can't remember what Gutmann wheels look like but may be worth finding out :)

I found the below pics on the internet a while back:

It looks like a typical Peugeot style magazine advert to me, so I'd say it was a available from new. Looks great!

EDIT: It also features here, but my french isn't too good, but I can pick the word 'Gutmann' out! http://www.forum-auto.com/

Certainly not Gutmann as far as I know.

I thnk it was an optional kit that was available from Peugeot Talbot Sport around the same time as the 125 bhp PTS kit for the original 105 bhp 1.6 GTI. I would check your engine carefully Freda as that may have also been upgraded

Looks like you may be right - I've just unearthed this:

The whole article can be found HERE.

An interesting (geeky) side-note, you can see from the above how the PTS Flamme stickers evolved into the 106 S1 Rallye graphics...

Tried the Peugeot Service Box but nothing can be found. :)

Anyway, will the GTi wing moulding fit after a surgery with a drill? This may make the car looks sportier

The kit is just bolted on the original panels, except the front wings that looks replaced.

Mine is NOT a 125 hp version :) Rev limiter cuts in at 6 500, and the "pink slip" says 77 kW = 105 hp.

Only 105 hp (to 1988) and 122 hp (1989 on) versions made it to sweden due to exhaust regulations.

I dislike the headlight design, but the body kit looks great!

But I think this is not a Gutmann.

I have made some exterior "adjustments". Also fitted half-leather interior.

All that is left is to cut up some more space in the rear wheel arches to fit the 30 mm spacers on each side. The look from rear with the spacers is quite spectacular
