eob 7 Posted December 27, 2008 I think my crank position sensor has had it, but despite plenty of messing around on eBay and GSF, I can't find prices for one Anyone any ideas where you can pick a new one up as I heard they weren't all that expensive new? Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted December 27, 2008 What engine do you have and what year is your car? I ask, because probably 90% of 8v 205 GTI's don't have a crank sensor that does anything.
eob 7 Posted December 27, 2008 Sorry, it's a D6C Mi16. I've thrown a crank position sensor from a 106 on there and I think it might be why my engine won't start ECU works fine
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 27, 2008 any from an XU should do the trick plenty in the scrapyards I should imagine
eob 7 Posted December 27, 2008 Are you suggesting, for a second, that you'll find Peugeot's in scrapyards??
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 27, 2008 oh not any more than another motor no
eob 7 Posted December 27, 2008 (..actually my local scrapyard is about 90% Peugeot/Renault )
Mikey S 29 1 Cars Posted December 27, 2008 according to intermotors website, not all xu's use the same crank sensor. http://partfinder.smpeurope.com/index.html...amp;value=18793 that link is for the mi16.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 27, 2008 You can use GTi6, S16 ones with out a problem, Not sure on any other's as I;ve never seen them
jackherer 543 Posted December 28, 2008 You can use GTi6, S16 ones with out a problem, Not sure on any other's as I;ve never seen them Agreed, I've interchanged both of those with Mi16s and 2.0 turbos too.
eob 7 Posted December 28, 2008 You'd think they'd be all the same given that a CPS is hardly a complex piece of kit, but, having double checked my ECU (works fine in another 405) I think I've narrowed it down to being the CPS. I'd presume that a CPS from a 'standard' 1.8 Xantia/406 would do the trick?
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 28, 2008 yes, the differences in my experience have only been the length of the fly lead that is attached. I have swapped 8v Motronic with GTi6 magnetti and S16 Motronic, all have differing part numbers but the same plug on the end and all of them work
eob 7 Posted December 29, 2008 And yet... the TU one I used appears to be at fault... At least I hope so or it's around in circles again trying to find ze problem
