Flix 0 Posted December 24, 2008 I'm changing the engine and box soon. From 1.9 8 valve and BE1, to GTI6 and 1.6 BE3. Will the speedo cable need to be changed as they fit on a differnt place on the box. The BE1 is screwed in the top of the box, and the BE3 is on the diff casing and looks to be a clamp fitting. The cable at the top of the BE1 is the lifter cable that allows the 'box to go into reverse (it's connected to the bit you pull up on the gearstick) and will not be needed on the BE3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
