Gti6 Fuel Pipes Etc

I am just wondering, what the usual method, items, filter etc is used in the gti6 conversion, do you use the original 8v fuel filter, and fuel pipes etc, or is there a better method, reason i ask is i want to order any parts i will be needing before i states the conversion.

i used a 106 GTI fuel filter and relocated it over to the passenger side of the engine bay and mounted it with an old 8v cylinder coil holder.

 

makes it a hell of a lot easier to get to and change and you just need about 2.5m of new rubber fuel hose and some fuel hose clamps to fit.

i welded some -6 fittings to mine

if you look in my build i have a swirl pot and a second pump with a further 2 filters.

 

but mine is OTT for road use, only done what i have to stop surge on track

looks good to me, does the 106 gti fuel filter not use banjo's then ?

No its just plain tails.

I use a 106 Gti filter to, but moved it to where the jack used to go. So less chance of fire if it leaks etc. Held in with a 55mm stainless P clip.

yeah much better idea

 

u had a fuel leak on mine and sprayed fuel all over the ex manifold while cruising at 70, how the hell it never caught fire i dont know

i have mine over that side as i've used the 306 pas reservoir where the jack normally goes

I use a 306 filter mounted by the fuel tank under the car. No filter or joins in engine bay :)

 

Theres a rubber hose before the metal one, you can cut this and plug in a filter.

Hmm, still not sure how i am going to tackle this just yet, fuel pipes are somthing ive not really touched on,, aghh it all scares me :)

atm im using the original 8v filter on mine. ive had to change the top banjo as the original one wouldn't mate with the 6 fuel lines.

I've bought 8mm hose and a 106 filter which I plan to mount in the o/s wing like others have done using a P-clip of some sort. I've removed all the old 8v hose up until the metal feed and return pipe which comes up from under the car. The feed is flared which I hope will help it seal, but will probably use two proper fuel hose clips too. Only other problem I may have is fitting the 8mm hose to the 10mm pipe on the injector rail - I've read somewhere that soaking it in boiling water will help make it more flexible - ?!

I personally use a standard filter mounted on the inner wing with a union screwed in to use the 10mm pipe to match the GTI6 rail.

Petrol actually has a very high flash point, much hotter than an exhaust manifold. It would all just have evaporated instantly. Brake fluid on the other hand will quite happily go up if dripped on an exhaust...be careful when bleeding those brakes boys!

 

Not to say spraying petrol around your engine bay is a good idea, mind... :wacko:
