205 Cabriolet Hardtop?

Recommended Posts

redhair

I didn't know that hardtops exist for 205s since I saw there was an auction on german eBay, but too late so I hadn't the chance to see it. Anyone has pictures of hardtops for 205 cabriolets? I was not able to find something with Google so I guess they must be extremely rare. And I wonder if they are real replacements for the softtop or just covers? Thank you

I am not awarre of any, however JoseMP3Car on here was looking to make one out of fibreglass a fair few years ago.

Redhair. Have you got the ebay link?

Davepug205. Where did you find that bottom pic? Any more info?

If I was to make one, it would have to have a sunroof!!!

Thanks for the photo. I still wonder if it's a replacement for the softtop or just a cover?

its not a replacement - you close the softtop and then strap the Hardtop above - you can unzip the softbackwindow for clearview.

I saw a few of these auctions on german ebay over the years.

So a sunroof in the hardtop doesnt make sense *g*.

Very rare stuff, i am not sure is it original or not.

So where is the point of having such a big rear window on hardtop then ?

Although I do not like that hard top I do think it is a good idea, as you could use it throughout the winter months helping to preserve the original.

looks pretty damn good on a 306 though (usually smooth and sprayed body colour, that's probably why).

Not exactly what I've hoped-for...

Indeed, on 306... I think this is a nice one:

I`m too looking for a hardtop for my CTi, same reason as jeremy posted, the winter here is much colder than the UK.

I`m thinking of designing one from fiberglass, as I have a friend that works with this stuff pretty good.

But I don`t know if to make it fit over the softop or to replace the soft top.

Hopefully in the autumn I will have it made :D, and sprayed white like the car ;)

i think it can be made to look nicer and fit nicer if you replace the soft top.

however, i think it would be "safer" to put it over the soft top, *if* your soft top if weatherproof .

Hmm, didn`t get the last part, "wheaterproof"? or waterproof?

This spring hopefully I will have the mohair soft top in place, as the old rubber one has ended it`s life: 20 years is quite enough for a 10 year waranty roof

Could you not - as davepug showed us cut a standard 205 up and mound some rubber seals around the edges?

The way to do this would be to mount it to an old hood mechanism so it fitted easily. There are only a couple of bolts and little screws for the rear to attach (once you have the rear window out and the rust bar at the bottom of it!)

Can you give me a couple of pictures, of the front mounting mechanism and the rear mounting brackets or what ever it is?

Hey there.

Sorry for posting in such an old thread, but does this hardtop exist, or is it custom made? I use my cabrio during the winter and it doesn't have a garage so it is in the parking lot near a street all day. Is it possible to buy one somewhere, or does anybody have the blueprints for one? And how reliable is it? My top is quite new so its waterproof, it would be great against the ice and snow, and of course bad people :D

I think they were often found in Germany, but are pretty rare now. I have never seen one in the UK or even for sale globally in the past 4 years
