Wheelarch Rubbing With Gaz Coilovers?!

Recommended Posts

Bakes100

Hi Guys

I have a slight problem since fitting Gaz coilovers on my 205, under hard cornering of over large bumps the tire catches on the wheelarch.

Im running 225lb 9" springs around 30mm down on standard with the unit set 12 clicks from the bottom. The coilovers are off a 306 but im not sure if this would affect it.

May i need longer bumpstops?

Thanks

Stuart

probably just got it set way too low or need longer/stiffer springs, have you got 309 arms and 195's on?

(you are running the PTS tarmac stiffness spring for an alloy block, not an iron block...)

Its just a road car running 309 arms with 195/50's

It isnt set very low at all compared to some of the others on this site (higher than in my dp)

What springs would you recommend?

I run 10" 150lb springs. I found the 8" 200lbs pretty crashy. Although i may have gone too far the other way now

I run mine pretty low, as a rough idea about 1.5 fingers between tyre and arch.

I never have any rubbing or anything. But mines only a road car.

150lbs is too soft for him

i had 185 and thats the lowest, but 200-225 would be ok (better)

assuming it's catch on the front arch?

std wheels?

have you gt a side on picture on how it's sat?

here is a pic of mine and that dont catch, and i'm on r888's

both pics from the same day

If it's set at a reasonable height it shouldn't be catching. My car's only on eibach springs at the moment which are low poundage with a gti6 lump and i don't have any issues

All i can suggest is to wind up the damping a little or drive steadier on the road

you may have tyres with a fairly square sidewall, that coupled with the 309 arms could be why it rubs, I know its common for the arch trims to be cut back on rally cars as their tyres are generally a bit chunkier.

Mine has 225lb 8in springs and doesnt catch, thats with 309 arms, wider front track and maybe slightly lower height than Spikys. I am running around -2deg of camber though. Forgot to PM you back about those springs Bakes, il do it now!
