Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted December 14, 2008 Had this idea the other day, I reckon it could be done, bar 1 stumbling block, lets see what you lot think- Retrofitting ABS from for example a 306 or Xsara. Rear sensors easy, just use trailing arms from one of the above. Front sensors can use 306 uprights, however the driveshafts are the stumbling block, as 306 ones will be too long, so any cunning plans? Then it would be a case of plumbing and wiring....... jonnie205 1 Posted December 14, 2008 use 205 abs shafts
Craigo 0 Posted December 14, 2008 get the 306 driveshafts shortened
Ryan 99 Posted December 14, 2008 ABS was available as an option on the 205, so driveshafts are available. Places like Euro Car Parts or GFS sell recon ABS driveshafts.
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted December 14, 2008 I did know that, but I'm not sure if the teeth pattern is the same as used on a 306. Anyone know?
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 14, 2008 (edited) just swap the end cup's over, Easy as that Easy to install the ABS Pump and loom too Edited December 14, 2008 by Miles
brian j 32 Posted December 14, 2008 just swap the end cup's over, Easy as thatEasy to install the ABS Pump and loom too Does it have its own ecu, or does it link to the main engine ecu in a 306 though? I was looking at this as an option if (when?) the factory ABS in my 205 goes wrong in the future.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 14, 2008 Everything is in the pump unit, The loom just plug's into the fuse box for it's feed and the loom on the 306 run's under the car so it doesn;t even touch the normal car loom,
BackStreetRacecars 3 Posted December 17, 2008 maybe i am missing something here...... but... why do you want to retrofit abs??

brian j 32 Posted December 17, 2008 While a lot of people feel it isn't in the spirit of the 205, it is a useful safety feature for damp/muddy/greasy roads etc. I personally wouldn't want to have a road car without it. If you want to press on and have ultimate control, you can always pull the fuse for it, or even fit an ABS switch a la Audi UR Quatrro. Just my 2p
omega 82 Posted December 17, 2008 if u read the topic front wing by busengineer u will see a good reason for abs
mr_exe 1 Posted December 21, 2008 I have to admit I would like to have abs in the 205, its the one safety feature I do like and have been grateful for when I have needed it.
weejimmy 1 Posted December 21, 2008 id like to put it on my misses car, is it a case of geting the pump loom driveshaft ends from a 306 and puting them on? what about the rear?
GTI6BOY 29 Posted December 21, 2008 just use abs rear wheel bearings which are £30 from gsf
welshpug 1,662 Posted December 21, 2008 just use abs rear wheel bearings which are £30 from gsf that doesn't address the need for a place to put the sensor, easier to fit ZX/306/xsara trailing arms, often come with sensors still attached, and you can pick beams up for £40-
