Mi16 Set Up Problem On Carbs

Recommended Posts

malyso

The car is currently at Bogg Bros with ZX9 carbs just been fitted the car ran fine on fuel injection prior to the conversion but the engine is now really struggling below 3k ie just coughs and splutters above this I'm told it pulls ok. Its a standard engine and cams, fueling is all ok and new plugs have been fitted... any ideas? has anyone with a carb conversion on MI16 had a similar problem.

My thoughts so far,

-Cam timing slightly out so not creating enough pressure to lift the slides at lower RPM

-Spark issue ( on its mi ignition coil with 8v dizzy and alloy spacer convertor)

-????

Hi mate I'm doing a ZX9 conversion at the moment also, though have not had the engine running yet, far from, still making inlet manifold. Could it be fueling, I presume BB did a carb inspection and fitted new jets? If not they may not be flowing enough fuel?

surely if they werent flowing enough fuel then it would be top end that suffered not bottom end?

is everything getting a full 12volts to it at idle?
