205 Indicators Stop Working When Heater Is On?

Recommended Posts

garygti

hi all i have a small problem with my 1990 sorrento 1.9. the indicators work fine when car is cold but when you put the heating on and it warms up the car they stop working, the hazerds still work tho.

if u turn back down to cold for few mins the come back again (sometimes).

changed the relay and the indicator stick but still the same. (thought id fixed it but no)

worder if any one had come across this be for?

Worth replacing the hazard switch as a first port of call - that's usually the cause in my experience when the hazards work but the indictators don't

And you may think this REALLY wierd, but on my way back from the rolling road at Emerald, my indicators packed up but the hazards still worked, and it was down to needing a new battery.

Is your battery ok? I've never had an issue since I swapped mine. Obviously try the switch first, but failing that, you never know!

My guess is the switch is partly failed, the resistance across the contacts is too high for the indicators to work when the battery voltage is low but not enough to cause a problem under normal conditions. For now anyway, it will be fine until the night before your next MOT is due in my experience...
