Craigb 2 Posted December 8, 2008 I navigated on The preston Road Rally on staurday night , and the 205 I was in had a problem I have never experienced before . The front brakes kept locking on. We would get to the startline , and go to set off and would have to drag the car against the brakes. anyone ever had this issue , I am thinking master cylinder or the rod to the servo alignment ? The clouds of smoke and the glow of orange discs impressed some of the marshalls though . Still finished 3rd O/A which wasn't too bad !! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 8, 2008 both sides? the servo rod would be the only thing I can think of if it is both sides that are binding, apart from brake hose problems. I've seen 2 twisted brake hoses cause it on both sides of an Escort that had had its pads replaced a few months before, the problem didn't rear its head until the MOT as the brakes had never been depressed particularly hard until then Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted December 8, 2008 The cause will be the master cylinder not returning properly which in turn opens a port which allows pressure in the lines to the calipers to release back to the fluid header tank. As others have said, the cause will either be the pushrod incorrectly adjusted, pedal seized/stiff and so not returning, or the master cylinder is on its way out. M@tt 77 Posted December 9, 2008 i had this on my 205 after fitting differnet master cylinder. Once the brakes and fluid had warmed up the brakes were binding. A few quarter turns on the end of the nut on the servo pushrod sorted it out Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
