Any Advice On The Changing The Lower Engine Mount?

Recommended Posts

Masekwm

I'm going to have a new one pressed in this weekend. Any advice before I get started?

Drivers driveshaft out, big bolt through the middle out, 4 bolts on engine block out?

Sounds simple... Anything to be aware of?

Thanks

Thats about it as far as I can remember...

The housing is also fixed on with a roll pin, should just pull off or leaver slighly

You may need to remove the fork bit too, but thats easy enough!

Dont forget gearbox oil!

Thanks Fox,

No idea what a roll pin is!

I've half a bottle of gearbox oil somewhere, but I did the drivershafts recently so gearbox oil is fresh. Hopefully I've put the bottle in the shed so I can top it up.

I'm concerned that the bolts holding it will snap in the block!

They should be ok, the roll pins just a dowel, dont really know its purpose on there to be honest! You'll need around 2l of oil, if you jack it up high enough on the drivers side, you might not loose that much oil

You the cost of the oil at the dealer (unless its shot up in the last year) I would replace the oil again incase you get bits in it draining it. Also if your draining it from the drain plug rather than just out of the drive shaft hole when you pull the shaft out, get a new washer.

I replaced the bearing on the driveshaft that sits in the mount to but you may have done this when you changed the shafts?

Thanks all,

Yeah I had changed the bearings a few months ago.

Got the mount off, was easier than I expected, worst part was getting the lower arm out.

Just got to get the bush changed now

Can someone please confirm how the bush sits in the mount, the bits which touch the the outside of the mount is it:-

We forgot to check how the old bush was before pressing it out, or does it not matter? I've put the new one in as -----. No idea if it matters or not!
