2.0l Turbo In A 309

Recommended Posts

Moz_Goodwood

hiya all

does anyone have any experience in dropping a turbo lump in a 309???

is there any clearance problems on the brake servo / bulk head? like there is in the 205

i know in the 205 you can use the 306 xsi top mount and a modified standard bottom mount as this helps clearance, but i was wandering is it the same in the 309?

are the 309 engine bays slightly bigger? or are they the same as the 205

cheers in advance

paul

Same as the 205 in every way bar more room at the front,

The xsi mount is the same as most iron block engines, the mount needed depends on what car the engine came from.

it came out of a 406, so if it has a bit more room at the front will that mean there will be a little more room for the intercooler or are we talking millimetres

Again depending on intercooler type, you will have room for a better bend in the pipework, on the 205's it needs to be quite short when using the Cossie intercooler as in Matts project post.

The rad mounting should be easy too as again it is better than the 205 in that way

cheers for that mate  some handy info

just one more thing to bend your ear on, will the exhaust match up as standard or will it need lengthening / shortning / welding etc

or is the only real way of finding out is just to get it in there

or is there a different exhaust that will fit? that can be used

No idea on that, I just got my exhaust man to make one up, but I would say the D/P would need shortening allot and maybe bending differently, I'm sure someone else will say for sure

As said all XSi run the GTi6 type of mount, so any 306, 405 Mi16 Phase 2, ZX, Xsara, Xantia and no doubt allot of the PSA range will do
