Lan 24 1 Cars Posted December 3, 2008 my 205 has a problem that when the tank is less than half full, and the car is parked even on the slightest of hills, all the diesel in the filter runs back into the tank makeing it annoying to start. does anyone else have this problem or know of a fix?? trialster 0 Posted December 3, 2008 keep it topped up only joking, sounds like you have a leak somewhere between the fuel pump and tank. i guess its the 1.8 NA diesel engine? look at the clear section of fuel pipe (if there is one) and see if there's air in there when the car's running, this is a good indication! its quite likely that the heat transfer (coolant/fuel) unit is sucking in air; if so, bypass it Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
jimistdt 1 Posted December 3, 2008 (edited) As said, it sounds like an Air Leak somewhere. On mine it was the Leak-off pipes. Have a look at all the pipes generally, if any look like they have small cracks in the surface (Maybe more noticeable if you gently squeeze the pipe.) then your problem may lay there. vern 0 Posted December 3, 2008 Someone else had this problem a couple of months ago?. I had the same problem, the small leak off pipes on the injectors need replacing, the pipe is only a couple of quid and takes about 20 mins to fit. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Rom 0 Posted December 3, 2008 Come across this at work a few times (not on 205s). And more often than not its related to an air leak as said. Often after the filters been changed, and not bled properly, or seal is ill fitted etc. But have seen pipes have similar effects. brian j 32 Posted December 5, 2008 If you check the pipes and they are all ok, and the filter seal is good, a useful (but messy) tip is, one by one, liberally coat the pipe unions in grease. If it is the joint that is leaking the grease will seal it and the car will behave. If it is not the one, it will make no difference. Either way clean the grease off afterward and fix as necessary.
