Speedo 'sticking'

Recommended Posts

BERTMAN

hi, ive noticed that my speedo is sticking at certain speeds... mainly 30 and 40mph... and that if i slow down it still reads 40 even at speeds that are like 20or so until i stop, then it goes back to zero and is normal again until i hit the said speeds. Its ok when i go past them though, and dosent do it every time but is becoming more frequent? the set of clocks also makes a grinding noise occasionally, very rarely and seems to have nothing todo withthe sticking needle so...

whats causing this, loose spedo cable or new set of clocks on the cards or something?

Cheers

Liam

Do you have something like the Lockwood dial kit fitted? I've seen the symptoms you describe on 205's fitted with them as the speedo needle can catch and sticks.

Cold weather always used to affect my 205 speedo and created a "clicking" sound from the back and would occassionally flick to much higher speeds but would always settle back down when warmed up for some reason - doesn't ever happen when it's warmer though.
