chalky143 0 Posted December 2, 2008 I took my 205 gti auto for a blast down the motorway for the first time yesterday as ive just got it road legal. it only did 98mph, but accelerated quite nicley all the way up then stopped at 4000rpm as if it was limited. If you fitted a de-limited ecu would it get rid of it, if there is one? or would it rip the gearbox apart? thankyou leon
Moz_Goodwood 0 Posted December 2, 2008 i take it this was a private motorway or the autobahn? the fact it stopped at 4000rpm suggests its definately limited, but to be honest why would you want to go any faster? personally im only interested in off the mark performance not top speed because soon as you break the limit your asking for trouble anything over 80 - 85 mph on a public road your risking a big fine, points, losing your liscense and more to the point a accident and believe me if you have a smash in a 20 year old peugeot doing anything over 30 you'll know about it

chalky143 0 Posted December 2, 2008 40-50 MPH!!! erm....question? why are you showing me that? i only wanted to see iff it was limited? and also if there is anything i can do to make it accelerate faster? any btw says you with the fast 205, tuned to hell lol....we all like a bit of fun, or why would we buy these cars??? lol........i have a 600cc sports bike and thats far more dangerous, i broke my leg and my pelvis, so im not an idiot anymore. thankyou leon

With the proper Gti engine, it managed 120 with a tail wind. The auto box has slightly taller ratios than the manual, and only has 4 gears, so it will never be as quick on acceleration. I tried a standing 1/4 once in my stripped out auto. It was timed at 15.9s at 83mph. It's not slow, but i guess a manual would have been nearly a second quicker. Gentrix 2 1 Cars Posted December 2, 2008 the autobox 205s that I have driven rarely reached 195 Km/h. (no problem on autobahn) As already said - the autobox is waaay to long - the revs drop almost 1k rpm from 3rd to 4th. My Gentry with the same 102 PS DFZ engine and manual gentrybox (close to the cti box) is good for 205 km/h
Kobayashi 35 2 Cars Posted December 9, 2008 My Gentry with the same 102 PS DFZ engine and manual gentrybox (close to the cti box) hello andi, i thought these two are not only close but the same? if not, where's the difference? thanks.
Gentrix 2 1 Cars Posted December 9, 2008 hello andi, i thought these two are not only close but the same? if not, where's the difference? thanks. this is just what I kept in mind from Prof. Kris discourse about the several different gearboxes, which where available. ask him - you will get a definite answer.
