I have a PRD exhaust manifold if you're interested. £50 + P&P. It's a reangled one. Can get you some pics. I never needed it as I cut and welded a piece into my bulkhead, which is a whole load of work!

I think Phil is saying separately you will need a way to make the downpipe clear the bulkhead in the 205, and can help you (at a great price BTW) with a reangled Mi exhaust manifold. I would take the manifold of the 405 and sell it on.

From the 405 - if that was the initial question - take the loom (including its relays which may be in a box on the inner wing), the ECU, all hosing and of course the engine. Throttle cable may come in useful too, as may the speedo drive cable.

In fact b*llocks, might as well take the wiper blades too as they have spray bars on along with some tubing ;) .

If the question was what else in general, I would recommend a solid lower engine mount and perhaps some new battery live and earth wires as you might as well replace these with the inlet manifold off as it's easier then. Therefore you'll also need a new inlet and exhaust gasket, it costs pence to get new downpipe bolts and a fire ring, a new oil filter and some new exhaust manifold copper flathead nuts.

Remember obvious stuff like coolant and perhaps fresh oil and you should be good to go. And you haven't mentioned any Mi engine history, and if it's sat a while, a decent new set of plugs, HT leads and rotor arm will help alleviate any first start up problems. £50 well spent IMHO.

Thanks for that Miles, cambelt and water pump was on the list allreadybut it makes sense to check bearings etc. The engine had done 88 thou, the car

pulled well and no tapping knoking noises no smoke,it seems a real strait motor, it had all the history Peougeot up till 10,000 ago then local garage service stamps.. luke

If you decide not to use the mi16 ecu and use you GTI ecu then a dizzy adaptor, dizzy, and longer leads are needed, this is the easiest way to get the engine up and running but it will run better on the mi16 ecu,

Well it's like this. You have the engine out, and unless you have proof of a cam belt change, it would make complete sense to do it first - out of the car - when it's really easy to get at. It's not a hard job if you follow the Haynes manual and have pins/drill bits to lock the cams and crank pulley. Then is when you would also change the water pump, and maybe the tensioner(s).

The Mi16 box is widely agreed to be the best all round box. I'd take it and stay with it personally, wanging in a new clutch and thrust bearing too for even more peace of mind. After all, you and we want the car driven, not being taken off the road later for jobs you could've done now.

If you have the engine, loom and ECU complete of course you take the dizzy; it goes with the engine. The adaptors are only required when people install the engine but keep the standard 8v ECU.

EDIT: And why would you want pics of Phil's exhaust manifold? Snap it up at £50 as he's on your side matey. All the picture will show you is an Mi exhaust manifold that looks just like yours to be frank, but it will angle slightly differently which you will not see until you compare them side by side and/or try to fit the orginal. Maybe he won't mind, but you're just making work for him. Buy it, fit it, rag it rotten chief.

Luke..

really you need to vernier (measure) your crank up before you order a bearing set up. it may have been machined previously and need oversize bearings.

if your stripping it right down, take it to your local engine shop as they will be able to measure it for you, polish it, or regrind it if neccesary, then supply the correctly sized bearings.

this is what I've done to mine, http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z143/oi...%20Rally%20Car/

It's a pain in the arse to do the tunnel, loads of work, manifold is easier. I just like tinkering! Sorry but I think the manifold has already gone.

Phil

could you let me know asap if the manifold is gone please? thanks phil!

Someone is coming to collect it next week so far as I know, which suits me as I don't have to post it. If he doesn't I'll let you know,

Phil
