djinuk 2 Posted November 27, 2008 Ive been offered a set of mikumi gs1000 bike carbs, just wondering has anybody fitted a set of these to the 1.9 8v engine, if so what is required and is it pretty easy ?
DrSarty 90 1 Cars Posted November 27, 2008 I'd say a carb is a carb, much like a throttle body is a TB. They're all relatively similar, pretty simple and hence reliable. My R1 TBs are Mikunis, and I suspect that providing you get a manifold built properly (with the right flow design, runner spacing & good joiners), get it jetted right (not an issue with bodies) and are prepared to fiddle with your throttle linkages to give you the right response and 'feel' at the pedal then there's no reason these won't be the same as any others. R1 is 1000cc IIRC so get the jetting right and you should be away.
nick 3 Posted November 27, 2008 I'm sure GS1000 (circa 1978 at a guess...) carbs are going to be way too small, a GS1000 only made about 80 horsepower iirc.... Nick
