Building A Tt Engine

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but i cant see where else it should go.

I am currently rebuilding my mates TT engine that he got from Pug Performance. I am going to have to replace one piston because it metled on to the liner, i just wondered if i can use a 1.9 piston and liner and just get the comression taken down in the bowl?

Also i am in desperate need of a piston liner and rod, so if anyone has one, please could you let me know?

Thanks for any info or suggestions you have

IMO Id source a complete set of liners and TT pistons and swap them that way, although you could get away with swapping just one TT piston and liner over it wouldn't be the best plan.

If your using aftermarket management you can use a std 1.9 bottom end, Are you sure it's a TT engine as many are just std 1.9's these days and I;ve seen allot like this

Right, my mate wants to put in forged pistons and have lots of H/P. Now i have built 7 litre diesel engines for 3 years and this is scaring me cos i dont want it to go tits up. I just wondered if there is some one on here who builds the engines to a good spec for good monies, or if there is a build guide that i can read up on. Or if anyone got any advice or help?

At the min i have 3 standard liners and standard rods, and a cleaned up block, flowed head that just had a skim.

Cheers.

Depends on what you call lot's of HP, as you need to think about the gearbox as well which is often overlooked, A LSD is a must at the very least.

Engine build wise you can spend as little or as much as you want, bigger turbo, Larger intercooler, Re-located rad etc etc

Any question's give me a call, details on my website and local too

think what he wants is about 250 mark, which is prob ok, but i just dont wanna cock up the internal side of it. Seating the liners will be the biggist issue i think. Thanks for your advice and will prob give you a call some time.
