Ant 2 Posted November 8, 2008 Folks, ive taken apart the oil pump this morning on my 2.0 turbo and removed the pump part with the mess inside from the rest of the pump ( the 6 bolts ) Inside there was a spring which i removed. It was only when i came to fit it back together i noticed there is a small bolt / rivetty thingy sitting inside the sping. Which side does this go on. The part i removed, or the chain side of the pump ? Thanks

Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted November 14, 2008 I've taken 2 oil pumps apart recently and not seen one of those, can only think it sits inside the spring at the opposite end from the relief valve to support it somehow.
Ryan 99 Posted November 14, 2008 It goes on the opposite end of the spring to the piston. They're only fitted to some pumps and not others. No idea why...
Ant 2 Posted November 15, 2008 Ryan, not sure what you meen when you say piston.. Is it the side that doesnt detach ( ie the side attached to the oil pump chain ) or the small side i have removed that contains the metal filter gause / Cheers
