Heater Fan

Recommended Posts

claypole1360

Hello everyone,

1.9 gti 1988

The heater fan works when power goes to it,

We don't think it is the resistor card,

It is not the fuse,

it maybe the switch.

should the turny dial switch thing go all the way round on the recirculating side(anti clockwise)?

How do I get it out to look at it?

Many thanks in anticipation, Claypole

The fan doesn't work on the recirculating side anyway, does it work going clockwise?

Works in neither direction.

When I bought the car, the owner said that the resistor card was Kaput, however, two new cards later and no fan working.

Ah righto... when you said "works when power goes to it" I thought it work clockwise. So what have you done then? just run a 12v feed to it?

That is how I would sort most issues on my other cars, but as this one is so nice, I want to have it working properly, and I have a spare dial/switch, how hard is it to get the old one out and how do I do it?

cheers Claypole

was a quik fix for MOT for me, allthough i dont think they are testable anymore, i stand to be corrected.

pull the knobs off and there are 2 screws holding the cover on pry it(after removing the screws) off and there are a few more screws behind the cover iirc. pretty straight forward tbh.

yep, might have to get a little screw driver to get it out, you'll need all 3 out to get at the actual board
