aynagoz 0 Posted November 7, 2008 I have recently bought a Pipercross Viper Induction Kit. I'm going to fit it with a modified throttle body. But I'm sure about the best position for the air box and for the intake. The instructions that came along with the kit recommends to fit it to the same place... Has any one tried a different positon? Does it really make any difference?
WooDooUK 1 Posted November 10, 2008 Hi, Other kits (K&N) fit very close to the thottle body and the filter then resides between the battery and the headlamp. Makes more sense that putting the intake above the hot exhaust at the back of the engine. (were the standad filter is)
jamiej 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Heya, Ive got a Viper installed in my 205, the position is over the exhaust like the standard set up. The viper is far too large to fit behind the headlight so that just wont happen, i think if you are patient you maybe able to point the cone down towards the floor behind the battery, maybe. TBH though mine is over the exhaust with no cold air feed and if i feel the AFM after a drive its cold, not red hot, by fitting the cold air feed, its kind of a false economy as it just gets red hot and heats the "cold air" before it goes through the filter. So, all in all, ive got a viper (originally from a Z3 i believe) and its mounted above the exhaust and it seems to do the job fine. doesn't suck in hellish hot air and sounds the business !!
