for the sake of a coupkle of quid, i'd get anther 205 one dude

if you do decied to remove it all get a MINI one as it's self contained, but tthen you will need to run heater pipes from it,

as the 205 heater is clever and runs through the dash :)

ok so we are now ready for this friday at oulton!!

after (more) brake problems, we cured them by rebleeding and changing discs! brakes now spot on!

indicator temp fixed, its a bodge but it will do for friday!

heater still not sorted, but gonna pick up a couple of portable ones from maplins as they are on sale, and just hope they do something, also gonna clean windows thouroughly and have a little trick in mind to hopefully stop the windows steaming up if it rains!

polished the bonnet to remove the sticker marks, only when we removed the big SHELL sticker on the front of the bonnet, one of the L's took of some paint with it, so thats what the cream 1 is on the bonnet! will hopefully matt black the car next year anyway!!

Watch yourself with them Maplin ceramic heaters, apparantly the cig lighter is live all the time, and if you leave the bugger plugged in it will kill your battery in no time.

ahhh

that might have just scuppered my plan, as i was gonna chop the cig lighter bit of and tap into another live on the loom! :)

Take a switched live from somewhere else you'll be alright.

do you have a master kill switch?

either take it from that or as above a good (thick) wire which is switched with ignition

or

if you cant find a big wire to connect to, get a small switched live and run a relay and have the switched live turn the relay on/off and run thick wire from the mater switch to the heater :)

Don't waste your money, any heater that runs off a cigarette lighter isn't going to do anything, the power available at the cigarette lighter isn't enough. At 12V the wires would need to be very thick to deliver enough current for a reasonable amount of heat.

anyway, after we did some bits to it, it was time for my favorite part, cleaning it!! it didnt get a 'full' detail, just because the paint isnt in good condition scratches/rust wise!

when we took the stickers off, it left the residue so this was removed with Tardis, and then the marks left behind on the bonnet and front wings were machine polished off!

from this:

to this 50/50:

DSC00292.jpg

this level of correction was carried out on the bonnet and front wings, the other areas will get it at some stage, just ran out of time!

also we got some michelin tyres to go on, so had to clean the alloys first!

trim got some feed on it, didnt bring it up great as i think its too far past it!

everything got a good clean, and hoovered out etc etc looked a lot better in the end!!

hope we like

ok so we have completed the first track day!! Oulton park open pit lane on friday 19th dec!

it went really really well, car stood up fantastically, brakes were very good, got a lot of laps in, it was brilliant!

there was 3 of us driving it on the day, i was probably the slowest, soooo much i need to learn about track driving! there was lots and lots of nice cars there as well! including 2 other 205's, couple of 306's, two JUN racing cars, two clio cup cars amongst lots of caterhams and elises/vx220's etc etc!

couple of our pics, and a couple of pro pics from the day:

ok.... christmas has come and gone, so i thought it was time to sort the car out in the garage as it just got dumped after the first track day we did in december!

so i pulled it out (the car;)_) and it started first time, which was nice

left it to run for a while and noticed a small water leak! which came from the water pump! so will need to replace that! will do the cambelt and tensionerr etc at the same time!

fixed the speedo quickly, the plug had come out from the back, bit fiddly but got there in the end!

also removed the sunroof ready to put a piece of 2mm aluminium bolted in instead! reason for doing this, i require more head room as im 6 foot 4 and previously, my helmet (ooooer) was bashing on the sunroof surround when cornering hard!!!

also received new rear bearings, so will be whipping the hubs off and getting the new bearings pressed into place,

no pics as yet, but i will take some next time im out!!

car has gone to peugeot today to have a new water pump, cambelt, tensioner and aux belt fitted, and its a good job too, as the water pump is leaking, and also the cambelt tensioner was loose and not running true, so this could have failed big time!!!
