Wide Track 205 Using 306 Front End

Recommended Posts

monty69

Has anyone on here done a wide track 205 using 306 arms/subframe? Just toyying with few ideas and wondering if anyone has dared extend the strut top mounts if possible? Am i right in thinking a large gain in track width means less body roll/ softer springs can be used?

not 205, but Sandy has used 306 arms on his 309.

Chris Penrose has 405 arms and shafts on his 309 to get neg camber / wider track.

The 306 Dimmas adjusted the strut top to offset the strut and get wider track

It's a proper mission to get 306 arms where they need to be on the 205/309, I wouldn't do it again!

Remember the 4wd widetrack 205 turbo that 205parts were building? There are no pictures on the site anymore but that ran a 405 front subframe and gubbins. I dont think it even needed modding to fit. If I was widening my 205 on the cheap i'd buy a complete 405 front end including steering rack and try to bolt the lot up. Doubt that would cost more than £100 - theres always people breaking 405's for parts...

From memory Michael had to fab some Blocks up to get the rear mountings of the 405 frame to match up with the 205 floorpan I did use to have pic's of this it may have been done to give the transfer box enough room though

I would estimate that this project was started 2005 so was on the old forum??

Certainly cant find any record of this build

indeed i did try a search earlier with his username but I dont think the search can pull up the threads or posts that far back effectively. i wonder if he was one of the original people like me who's account was deleted when there was a problem with the database and had to re-register..
