Idle Adjustment

Recommended Posts

adamc

This must have been covered before but i cant find it using the search :s

My idle is low, about 500-600rpm, i know that you need to set the idle with all the fans, lights etc on. But how do i adjust it, Where is the screw to adjust it? Is it on the afm or throttle body?

Can't remember but start her up, warm her up then give it a twist you'll tell instantly which way is up and down!

Take the angled one right out and clean up with a wire brush as they get coked up ( watch the rubber seal), then replace and fully close. then adjust the small one at the back until it idles at 700 then open the angled on until at ticks over at 1000 job done :D:(

You talking about adjusting the mixture screw on the AFM aswell? You don't really want to be messing with that without an analyser.

Sounds like he means the throttle stop to me, personally I always leave this well alone but each to their own.

No I meen on the throttle body.

I had the same problem on my new 205 so I took it to my local dealer last Monday, he has worked there for about 20 years and told me to do exactly that, it now runs like a drem and idles perfect. hope this helps . Dave :)
