projectpug 0 Posted November 4, 2008 Hi, Does anyne know where you can get these for a 205 want to fit a pair while my engines out. Thanks Phil
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted November 4, 2008 Miles makes a lightweight alloy crank pulley for the GTi-6 engine but I don't think anyone does them for the 1.6/9 or Mi16. Definately never heard of a lightweight alternator pulley but that wouldn't make any difference to the engine rotational mass anyway imo. Graham.
projectpug 0 Posted November 4, 2008 Thanks for that Graham, I wonder if Miles fancies making a crank pulley for 8v or is there one in production somewhere?
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted November 4, 2008 I know a man who could make you both in either alloy or titanium. If you are genuinely seriously interested then I can ask him to measure up from some samples I have and quote. For some examples of things he makes see- www.force-racing.co.uk
SPGTi 2 Posted November 4, 2008 Miles does a Mi16 one. I have one that is going on my engine. Steve
welshpug 1,662 Posted November 4, 2008 yeah, Miles does the 4 bolt Mi16 one, Lynx do the gti6 ones.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted November 4, 2008 I do both , will be a 1.6/Saxo one soon too, There used to be 8v one's when people used them allot in race and rallying but I don;t think anyone does them off the shelf anymore, They all useded to be smaller too
welshpug 1,662 Posted November 4, 2008 ahh thats good then
projectpug 0 Posted November 4, 2008 Hi Tom genuinely interested the crank pully would be my main priority and the alternator one too depending on price. I guess alloy is cheaper than ti so preferabley alloy. Is anyone else interested in maybe a group buy if we can get some made up might help with the price Thanks Phil
MerlinGTI 3 Posted November 5, 2008 Im intrested in a 1.9 8v crank pully depending on price. Just being nosey but can I ask why on earth you want an lightweight altonator pully? (im guessing its purely for looks??)
projectpug 0 Posted November 5, 2008 It will still save weight and rotational mass aswell as looking cool. So thats 2 of us interested in at least crank pulley you want alloy/titanium as Tom mentioned he could get them done in either.
tri_longer 25 Posted November 5, 2008 I'd be interested in an ally crank pully, price dependant of course.
projectpug 0 Posted November 5, 2008 I take it the more we ordered the better the price? Mini group buy sort of thing.
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted November 5, 2008 Carl is going to take one of my standard ones and then have a look at what can be done, alloy is probably best as Ti will likely be v expensive. No idea what price will be yet but bear in mind one of these 8v pulleys is a fair bit more involved than a Mi16 one, as it needs a keyway in it to locate on the end of the crank rather than being held on by 4 bolts. projectpug 0 Posted November 5, 2008 Thanks for the update Tom thatas great. As you say Ti is very expensive so probably best off with Alloy.
MerlinGTI 3 Posted November 9, 2008 Sorry yes, Alloy. Im not rich enough for Titainium!
SPGTi 2 Posted November 10, 2008 Why are you trying to invent something that already exists ???? Steve
welshpug 1,662 Posted November 10, 2008 Why are you trying to invent something that already exists ???? Steve who does these already then?
SPGTi 2 Posted November 10, 2008 who does these already then? Just reread the thread. Sorry for some reason I had got it into my head that this was for the Mi16 alloy block engine not the 8v engine. Steve
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted November 17, 2008 To update anyone interested, Carl has one of my standard lower pulleys as a sample, he has ordered material to make 5 off of these lower pulleys. So watch this space.
tim_gti 0 Posted November 17, 2008 Have you got a rought price for one?
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted November 17, 2008 Not yet no. Price depends on how long they take to make, which won't be known until one HAS been made.
