Simsy 0 Posted October 31, 2008 After searching, its seems i'm not the only one who's done this, but, in order to drill and tap the fitting i removed it. It started to turn anti-clockwise and then just popped out, i drill and tapped it and fitted a suitable bolt to replace the stupid f***ing plastic thing they stuck in there to start with. My question is, what is supposed to hold this thing in? Anyone removed it before? I've just araldited it in and left it till tomorrow to set, but not holding much hope My other option as i need the car to work on Sunday and the week after is to tap the hole and just block it with a bolt until i can fix it next weekend. It only seems to feed to the throttle body as far as i can see (to prevent icing)
Baz 421 Posted October 31, 2008 It's common that the bleed screw breaks, but not the whole boss for it like you have!
Simsy 0 Posted October 31, 2008 It's common that the bleed screw breaks, but not the whole boss for it like you have! I removed that to drill it out as the screw was still stuck in the boss. I'm just wondering what anyone might have done in the same situation, maybe i should have left the insert where it was instead of removing it
Masekwm 2 Posted October 31, 2008 Is there always a bleed screw there?
Simsy 0 Posted October 31, 2008 Is there always a bleed screw there? As far as i can tell from this (see part number 1) They should all have a screw there as it is a bleed and a feed to the throttle body. Its a bad idea to use a plastic screw in a metal pipe but thats the french for you

matty_gti 20 Posted November 2, 2008 Very common on these to break. Really easy to drill and tap them as they are a bleeding point or just block it off like uve done. Matt

I've put a bolt in it with some PTFE tape. I only had an issue with removing the fitting as i couldn't get the drill in straight. All seems OK now though, fingers crossed :
