Dave_McC 0 Posted October 28, 2008 I'm part way through fitting a 406 master cylinder to my 205 - but I'm not happy with the angle the 406 reservoir will sit at, or how close it's going to be to the bonnet - so I was going to fit the 205 reservoir to it. Managed to get the reservoir out of the old master cylinder with a bit of brute force - but assume I should replace the 2 rubber seals on the 406 master cylinder before fitting the reservoir - anyone know which part number I need? The 406 M/C is a Bendix, no idea what the old 205 one was - no name on it at all, just a 6 digit part number. Cheers Dave
Stu 18 Posted October 28, 2008 Theres no pressure there mate so i wouldnt worry; unless they are visble missing chunks.. i did the same thing as you and used the stock 205 reservoir with the 406 M/C and rubbers and all is well..
de Noir 0 Posted October 29, 2008 Just check they're without cracks and make sure you clean and grease (red brake fluid resistable grease!) them thorougly.
Stu 18 Posted October 29, 2008 Although, if you did feel obliged... Part no-7 looks to be the seal kit, £7.63 inc vat.
Dave_McC 0 Posted October 29, 2008 Cheers guys. I'll check the condition of the ones in there at the moment - if they look at all nadgered I'll replace them. Just bought some more rigid brake pipe - as I've got the master cylinder off so will have to rebleed system anyway, I may as well replace the brake lines whilst I'm at it. Am I the only one who ends up doing a dozen jobs whilst doing the 1 I set out to do....!! Dave
