A Few S16/mi16 Xu10j4 Questions...

Just a few questions, which i tried to look for on the forum but can't find any info.

I noticed my s16/mi16 engines exhaust manifold has 10 studs 5 on each side parallel to each other and not 9 like the alloy ph1 mi16 engine.

Im unsure what i should do about the exhaust manifold, as i need a 10 stud manifold which will fit my s16 engine and clear the 205 bulkhead?

Do not really have money to splash out on a custom 4 branch manifold, so was wondering if there is any alternative, such as a gti6 spaghetti style manifold, which looks pretty compact and has 10 stud holes also looks pretty nice.

there is a manifold out there that I believe will fit, sold by Miles @ £340, its a very well thought out 4 branch item.

the gti6 exhaust manifold will bolt on, but the ports don't line up, and its larger than the S16 exhaust manifold.

As Welshpug says there is a 4-2-1 available that has both the 9 stud and ten stud pattern drilled so it fits Mi16s and S16s.

But as the 2.0s are taller it doesn't clear the bulkhead like it does on a 1.9 so its not much use. Without reangling the manifold/engine or altering the bulkhead it simply wont fit.

The cast iron standard S16 manifold is rubbish so I'd avoid it, I recently took off a cracked 4-2-1 and temporarily replaced it with the original cast part and lost a lot of power. After welding the cracks on the 4-2-1 and refitting it power is right back up.

As said I sell the 4-2-1 for the Alloy engine but other's like Maniflow and Longmans sell pretty much the same thing to fit both engine's which in a loose term it does but not in a 205,

The GTi6 one the stud's don;t all line up either along with the ports as WP has said.

For a budget option the std manifold is a direct fit even onto the std 205 downpipe, Thou some need the S16 flange welding on

Looks like it has the right exhaust flange on the s16 manifold, I think it should just about fit onto the original 8v down-pipe. Think this will be my short term solution with this engine install, until i have enough money to go out and treat myself to a 4 branch.

Also another question:

I may be wrong but looking at photos of s16 conversions, the front top engine mount looks different to the standard 8v am i mistaken? If it is different i will need one as my engine didn't come with one.

To me the s16 doesn't look as chunky and is slightly tilted? Will my 8v top engine mount fit?
