Best Place To Buy A New Starter Motor?

Recommended Posts

RAF_gti

I'm I right in thinking that the 16v starter is the one to go for? Where is the best place to buy a NEW one from? Peugeot, GSF, Halfords or somewhere else? IS there any particular brand that I should keep my eye out for?

thanks!

Steve

Hi, i got one from an altinator/starter motor refurb place which has a higher wattage/ohms power etc so my car started well easy and quick.

they are also much much cheaper even more if you give them your old one. mine cost around £35 at greens in leicester.

A completelty brand new one will cost over £100 imo but a decent refurbished one from somewhere like GSF will be around £70.

8v & 16v starters are often the ame item, if anything a better starter to go now is one from a GTi-6 or other XU10 engine as they are samller & have a better (ring) termianl connection to the solenoid.

Usually under £30 from a breakers yard.

Graham.
