Auto Box Faulty On 205 Cti

Recommended Posts

NOsMAN

O.K. the problem is the autobox wont let me rev past 3000rpm before automatically changing up(approaches 3000rpm then jumps up a gear) ...Only way to rev the engine is shifting manually ..

Whats causing it and whats the remedy ?

Cheers

unaware of the 205 setup , but working with auto's i'd check the load sender (if there is one fitted) if there is it'll be somewhere on the throttle side

Just spoke to an Auto box specialist and he mentioned the same thing or the wiring from it ..

Its still connected cos it still kicks down but like i said as soon as it reaches 3000rpm it changes up

There's only the start inhibit wiring on the box and nothing else, it's well let's say very basic, The kickdown Cable you should feel under your foot but the gear's should go past that point anyway,

Thats about my knowledge of Auto boxes.

Only thing I know about auto boxes is that they misbehave with low oil - and the oil level should only be checked when hot after a lengthy run. apparently if the level is correct at cold, there's nowhere near enough. (alegedly)

O.K managed to take a look at it today with the help of the local pug dealer (J.Harrison) who said the cable is a bit slack at the throttle and told me to adjust it . Turned it as tight as possible and its made a huge difference but its still too slack in my opinion .Now revs upto 4500rpm in kick down so overtaking is easier but could be improved .
