bill 0 Posted October 13, 2008 if i remove the driving lamps/full beam, will the car still pass an mot?
platty 1 Posted October 13, 2008 If you actually remove the driving lamps from the valance, the car will pass an MOT. If you disconnect but leave in place, it will fail.

That's not the case as far as I'm aware or in my experience - driving lamps are not tested as part of the MOT, and the car will pass whether they work or not. I've just had a quick look in the relevent sections of the MOT manual, and I can't find any mention of front driving/fog lights being tested - so if you do get failed, I'd ask the MOT tester to point out the rule that says they have to work... Certainly one of my 205's hasn't had working driving lamps since I got it (monkey of a previous owner cut the wiring out ) and has passed MOT's at various different places - some of which were very anal about stuff - and not once have the driving lamps been mentioned even as an advisory.
