Anti Roll Bar Line-up?

Recommended Posts

Tommer

Hi All,

just adjusted the height on my 1.9 GTI, when coming to put the ARB in and the ends on, they don't seem to line up, one seems a few mm out and no matter how many times I rotate the ARB it will just not line up!

any one else experienced this? is there a way around it?

I have a theory that when manufactured, the ends are pressed onto the ARB in the factory and then welded onto the end plates so they don't need to fiddle about lining them up, just a theory tho.

So anyway, yes, I have lined them up as near as I can, and will have to either lift one trailing arm or pull the other down to line the end plates up put the securing bolt.

anyone else have to do this or am I being a muppet?

cheeers

I had the same problem when rebuilding my custom 309 beam.

Never got it spot-on, but some on here mentioned that it was nigh on impossible to get exact. I remember reading somewhere that the reide height shouldn't be anymore than 3mm different between sides, mine was about a 1mm.

You need try both sides when rotating, yeah?

yeah tried both sides, even tried it with just the ARB off the car and trying to fit the end plates so they are level but no joy then either!

as long as it doesn't end up affecting the car i dont mind, just wondered if anyone else had experienced it, and looks like you have

cheers

Have a read of this....... :)

End-Plate Topic

Cheers for that, reading through seems as if there are 2 roads of thought, one says it'll be fine they are all like it, the other saying they should match up...

I wouldb't mind but its such a pain in the ar5e to take the end plates off if you want to try something else grr
