Is There Anyway I Can Find Out What Year My Mi16 Engine Is?

Recommended Posts

It was from a 405, but i'm not sure what year. Just went to order a new cambelt and the bloke said theres two versions pre 92 and 92 onwards. Just wanting to know if theres a way of telling which year it is basically.

Pre 92 is alloy block 1905cc

Post 92 is iron block 1998cc

Show us a decent pic and it can be identified straight away. Otherwise find and post up the engine code which should be on a plate on the engine or stamped in somewhere.

There is a year marking on the heads too, but you may not be able to see with it fitted lol.

As Tom says, iron block is black generally, and the ally block is silver 9if not covered in crap) and has webbing/'fins' on it.

Describe it's appearance to us. Is the inlet all alloy or is it part curved black plastic s*ite?
