Mi16 1.9 Jerkiness At Slow Speeds

Recommended Posts

Ludders

Hi everybody

My MI is quite jerky at slow speeds, most noticeable say when your doing 30, 35 in 4th or 3rd in steady traffic. Acceleration seems to be smooth, idle is pretty good, not absolutely rock solid but pretty much. Just wondering if anyone knows what this could be? Ignition parts are mostly new as this is a new conversion. I have not had it tuned properly on a rolling road yet and wondered whether this could be worthwhile?

Many thanks for any help.

are you on 8v or 16v management.

I.E. do you have a distributor.

TPS adjustment, worn spindle, or worn AFM I would look at.

Thanks, it's off to a garage tomorrow. I just wanted to have an idea of what they should be checking.

What's the results then? I bet like most garages they couldn't find anything wrong.

My first port of call would be check the breathers are all clear & clean if it's a new issue, then the others above.

I'm collecting it Saturday morning so will post up their findings. I did let them know what various forum members had told me it might be and they sounded reasonably knowledgeable so here's hoping.

I have had a new Throttle Position Sensor fitted and whilst the car does seem a lot smoother it is still suffering from jerkiness at slow speeds. Any ideas on the best way to proceed would be most appreciated. Cheers.
