Painting The Inside Of The Car?

Recommended Posts

bill

ok, the interior is now stripped out, bar the headlinning, thats the next job, but i want to paint the interior of the car, probably black, so what are my options?

easiest and cheapest way please, what kind of paint do i need to use? and can i just paint it on with a brush? not to fussed about the finish as its a track car at the end of the day! but i dont really want to use spray cans as i cant be arsed to mask everything up, just want to tidy it up a bit :)

cheers

I'd advise against black unless you paint everything that goes in the car dayglo orange...

get it as clean as possible, quick go over with a scotchbrite pad and off you go.

Definately agree with the above. You'll put something down in the car and never find it again. Seriously!

Ive painted the inside of 2 astras 1 manta and a mk2 escort rally car at work. All have been white. It goes well with most exerior colours I.e Red, Blue....You get the picture. As said, you drop summat, its a mare to see in the cave of a black cabin.

Black surely is not a good choice but white or any light/bright colour may blind you when sunlight reflects.

And painting with a brush will take forever, as it will need at least two coats to get decent coverage. You will spend less time masking it off and spraying it, plus it will look ten times better.

i guess your talking sense, i'll do it properly and use some rattle cans, might go for sorrent green as thats the colour of the car, but then again thats not far off black!

i got a compressor for £50 from B&Q recently (shop soiled and missing the oil filler plug so was cheap) and a gun from local paint place for £25. Worth a think. The materials were £19 for a litre of paint and £7 I think for the primer filler. I'm going to have a go at my engine bay myself and floorpan. Then I may have the confidence to work of some other bits in the future. Got to be better than brush or aerosols!

When we do full Air ambulance respray the colours they tend to ask for inside the aircraft are either satin white or a light satin grey. These are easier to clean and probably wont glare as satin absorbs light.

Most areosols tend to give a satin finish anyway.

At the end of the day its your car.

i've just painted the inside of mine satin black, 'tetrosyl brush on paint' its called, just mix it up 50/50 with thinners, and spray it on with a gun, comes out lovely, its about £5 a tin, you'll probably need 2.
