Rich_p 23 Posted September 29, 2008 I removed the L bracket to replace it with a quickshift bracket I have. It would appear the original one has longer straight piece than the adapted one. (its the short end that has been modified). My car is a 309, were the L brackets different on 309's to 205's and will I encounter any problems fitting the 205 one? Rich_p 23 Posted December 22, 2008 Digging up an old post but I need to remove the L bracket to fit some more bronze bushes so can anyone answer this? Since fitting the short shift it doesn’t appear to have reduced the throw by that much. Is it worth me modifying the original one and seeing if that is any better? GLPoomobile 958 Posted December 22, 2008 There's 2 way to shorten the throw - either lengthen the long arm, or shorten the short arm. I guess the reason you've not noticed much difference in yours is that both arms are shorter than what was on the car before. Hopefully you'll understand what I mean by that. I could go in to more detail but I'm afraid I'll start to waffle and just get confusing!

pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted December 22, 2008 Rich isn't asking how to shorten the throw or which method is best but wether there is a different L bracket fitted on a 205 to a 309. From looking on service box the part number (from what I can make out) is 2449 50 & its the same on the BE1 & BE3 205 or 309. Graham.
GLPoomobile 958 Posted December 22, 2008 I was pointing out why he hadn't noticed a difference in throw despite the modified replacement. I didn't know the answer to the primary question but thought I'd help shed some light on the latter part of his post.
philfingers 5 Posted December 26, 2008 i'd say if you're fitting the brass bushes you need to file them to fit somewhat. Also I'd recommend lock wiring the bolt onto the subrame too once you're done. I learnt the hard way, having to stop every 20 miles on a road rally and tighten the bugger up!
