skeggyrik 3 Posted September 28, 2008 I sent my head off to be rebuilt, it was skimmed, 3-angle valve seats and rebuilt with blah blah blah.... It came back in one piece all done with the pulleys and top back cam belt cover all fitted ready to drop on. Well it's sat in my dining room for ages and I've finally got around to fitting it yesterday. Since the head rebuild I've acquired a Cat Cam inlet cam, so i for ease I've waited until the head was back on before I did the swap over of the inlet cam. I've just lifted the cams out and the oil seals I was expecting to see on each end of each cam are not there?? Now am I missing something here or should there not be an oil seal on the end of each cam? The only end of a cam to have a seal was the one behind the distributor. Can someone clear this up for me? As I think I've gone mad......... If I'm 3 missing I'll not be happy. Imagine the mess and the work if I'd not have had to swap the cam over and fitted it without the seals. Hoping to proved wrong..........
welshpug 1,666 Posted September 28, 2008 for a 1.9 - 0236 44 QTY 02 CAMSHAFT SEAL DIAM 36X50-7 0236 25 QTY 02 CAMSHAFT SEAL DIAM 32X45-8 a 2.0 will have either a metal cover or a Vac pump on the exhaust and the top of the thermostat housing at the other, so only 2 seals, 0236 44 same as the 1.9. I was kidding myself, there had to be 4. It's a 1.9 Mi so thanks for the part numbers. I will be having a word with the person who rebuilt the head for me.
