hiya all

im toying with the idea of either having a 1.98v turbo engine or a mi 16

im looking for 0 - 60, 0 - 100 times of these engines (standard) in a normal gti if that makes sense

my mates just bought a punto gt and its getting embarrasing now that on every track day, 1/4 mile hes beating me :D

and i just aint having it anymore :)

it's all down to what you want to spend really

to be different i'd go fo a turbo conversion. if i had the funds to spend, i'd like to have a t16 engine fitted to my 309 gti :)

I'd say the best bang for the money would be the turbo, if you are looking to modify it that is. Probably both quite similar in standard form.

what's so special about this Punto that it beats a 205 round a track?

I guess you're into willy waving eh :)

it makes me feel ill when i get a good lead in the corners (b@lls in mouth)

then he allways catches me up on the straights, he reakons its standard but feck me its quick :)

its about time i did a conversion anyway ive been threatning to put a turbo lump in the goodwood for over a year now, so its time to get some trousers to match my mouth :D

A std 1.9/good 1.6 should piss on a std Punto GT round a track...

around the track wasnt such an issue its more the straight line speed

the problem is that its 136bhp and 149lbs torque as standard which is obviously more than gti

but i dont think this one is standard unless ive seriously under estimated the puntos speed

theres a video on you tube that shows what i mean i'll go and have a look for it

Have you already 'dieted' the 205?

When the AFM on my Mi was knackered and it wouldn't pull past 120mph, I came up behind a Punto GT and I was only just gaining on it (I wasn't racing, I was just genuinely in a hurry! :) ). With a working AFM I would have pissed on him, but in a standard 1.9 8v my money would be on the Punto.

But.......if it's quick enough to pull so significantly on the straights that it's taking back any headway you make through the bends, then I'd say it's got to tweaked.

My old 205 GTi6 and in fact my brothers old 205 S16 use to quite happily pull away from the local Punto GT crew.

Truely shocking cars...

Dosen't sound standard to me. I had a play with one once on a steep uphill dual carriageway in a healthy 1.6 and the cars were locked.

i think i've got old

Theres me looking for a 1.6 as I want to have fun driving rather than chase paper figures lol

Maybe look at the turbo in the exhaust mod so your engine looks standard when you open the bonnet lol
