Peetypug 5 Posted September 26, 2008 i've done a search but cant find anything about it i'm now sorting out the cooling system on my engine i'm wondering if the oil cooler setup that bolts to the gearbox will fit the 6 engine if the oil/water cooler wont fit, will the standard oil cooler rad setup fit? thanks
swordfish210 20 Posted September 27, 2008 I'm pretty sure that the takeoffs are the same thread so it should fit but i doubt that you'll really need it. The oil shouldnt get above 110C even on track as long as the cooling system is up to scratch and your using a good quality oil.
Peetypug 5 Posted September 27, 2008 i've read on here that the 6 engine runs quite hot in the 205 and they are prone to head gaskets due to this (how true that is i dont know) but thats why i was thinking of using it it means i wont have to T the lower hose or the top one, meaning i'm less likely to get a leak also it will put the oil filter in a better spot for changing it as i dont think there will be much room
swordfish210 20 Posted September 27, 2008 Not personally running a 6 motor i cant say from my own experience but Matt Holley (thats his forum name on here as well) doesnt run one in his 6 engined 205 and the oil temp gauge is up to about 100-110 on track, which is just about right.
