M@tt 77 Posted September 24, 2008 I found i had to file down the edges of some of the bolts i got from GSF as the tolerances weren't brilliant and they wouldn't fit into the holes. I did a post about it a while back iirc
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 24, 2008 I;ve even had that with OE Pug bolt's as I think the tolerances are for 8v engine's and not the 16's, But I bet 90% more 8v where ever made compared to the 16v's
ANDYMISIXTEEN 0 Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) Got my bolts and had to file the edges down to. Whats the best way to torque the head down. 300 degrees or 75ft lbs . Read about people stripping threads and bolts doing it the 300 degrees way. Edited September 28, 2008 by ANDYMISIXTEEN
Stu 18 Posted September 29, 2008 I too was a little worried about this, so after talking with a guy who builds Cosworth engines (Andy Fisher for those who know) advised me to do them in two stages, with 24 hours inbetween. So i did all the preliminary torquing/loosening etc then loaded it up with 160 degrees, left them 24 hours then did the final 140. Mine has been fine this way, never runs any temp and never uses a drop of oil or water. Didnt feel overly stressed whilst doing the sequence either. Just my experience!
